Visit places all over Ibiza - the white island. A convenient way is to stay in
an Ibiza hostel and move around the island at your leisure enjoying the sights.
Ibiza Town
The island's capital and main centre (Eivissa) is neatly divided into two areas.
The is the old town the Dalt Vila and La Marina, the harbour.
Enter the Dalt Vila up a ceremonial ramp over what used to be a moat into an
impressive gateway, over the Portal de les Taules, the arch with a latin inscription
dating the wall to 1585, during the reign of Philip II of Spain.
Also visit the old-world streets of Sa Penya.
Relax, have a drink and watch all the travel Spain Barcelona passengers disembark
onto the quayside.
San Antonio
Also called Sant Antoni Abad, this resort was a fishing village tucked into
the pine trees at one end of a magnificent bay.
Today, the bay is cluttered with yachts, fishing boats and ferries.
San Antonio is the throbbing heart of package-tour Ibiza.
Ideal to locate an Ibiza hostel of your choice.
Santa Eularia del Riu
Santa Euralia was the first village in Ibiza to attract foreign visitors.
It boasts a mediaeval fortress church and a flower decked promenade which
overlooks a thin crescent of a sandy beach. Try the Ibiza hostel here.
From the top of Puig de Missa, you can look down onto Santa Euralia's
noted river and the two bridges that span it, a modern bridge and a Roman
footbridge.
Cala Sant Vicenc
A splendid cove which is now a resort centre. The road is good enough to handle
a stream of tourist buses and the beach itself is likely to be crowded.
Up in the hills behind Cala Sant Vicenc, a rough hike over difficult terrain leads
to a cave called Es Cuieram.
Tagomago
Now linked to mainland Ibiza by regular excursion boats. Although the beach at
Tagomago is too narrow for sunbathing, the swimming and the gin clear water
is superb. Visit the extraordinary lighthouse at the top of the hill past
variuos abandoned farms, wild flowers and sweeping sea vistas.
No Ibiza hostel on this remote island though.
Es Canar
This is a major tourist centre with masses of nightlife, bars and restaurants
which now sprawl a considerable distance.
There's a popular weekly hippy market in nearby Punta Arabi.
Watch out for pickpockets as you listen to the beat of the amazing Beni drums.
If you're not into shopping, there is the nearby beach which offers windsurfers
and sailing boats for hire.
