Zermatt, SWITZERLAND
Zermatt has huge glacier whith guaranteed snow, a hefty dose of alpine charm and year-round skiing.
The resort has plenty of bragging rights,too-not least having the loftiest lifts in Europe
(they soar to above 3000m). Zermatt also has hi-tech snow making system to keep lower runs
fresh even when temperature rise. The village is very sweet and the lanes are car free and chalets lorded over by Matterhorn.

Tinges, France - EUROPE
When it come to Summer Skiing,Tinges trump card is the Grande Motte glacier-which is open for 10 months of the year. But even the pistes leading down from it tends to stay satisfyingly snowy,as they are north facing. Most of the Skiing here lies above 2000m too - so you are good till early May.The Escape Killy ski area delivers a huge range of pistes and the nursery runs are boosted by the snow canoons,so begineers wont miss out.
The only downside? Like Val Thorens, its concrete tower blocks are never going to win a beauty contest and night life is dull as compared to its hip-and-happing Val d'sere But if you are after serious skiing and stunning scenery, its hard to beat.
Åre(oarer), Sweden
Are is Sweden's number one ski resort, situated in the North. Choose Are(pronounced oarer) if you prefer something little left-field.The scenery is breathtaking, low sweeping mountains covered with pine forests, and the skiing is suited to all levels, plus there are a good range of activities for the non-skier on ski holidays in Are.
Are some gently rolling slopes at Duved and gentle runs at Bjornen for the beginners. Beginners have a choice of English speaking ski Tutors. Intermediates have a great range of runs and areas to chose from, with the Are ski area offering the most challenging terrain. Advanced skiers will find some steep challenging runs, including the famous World Cup run, which has been used to host Alpine world Ski Championships in 2008. Val Thorens, France - EUROPE
Val Thorens is Europe's Highest Ski Resort at 2,300m, which means a season extends well into May with guaranteed snow. Not only that it has 600km of pistes, from gentle greens to suck-in-your breath black runs. After dark options don't have the glamour of some of the other French resorts, but the bars and restaurants are buzzy, unpretentious and good value. One more downside is that Val Thorens is certainly no looker - despite attempts to pretty it up, aprtment blocks still rule the day insted of cutesy wooden chalet - but its all about guaranteed snow. For more detailed information check here
